Make Corrections to a Paid Invoice
A paid or 'closed' invoice can be edited to allow for corrections to the original invoice. Making corrections to an invoice is usually performed to adjust the invoice date, assigned staff member, service type(s), and/or CPT modifiers.
1. Getting Started
Locate and click the Ledger tab of the client record that contains the paid invoice you would like to reopen.
2. Navigate to the Paid Invoices section of the client ledger
Use the invoice drop-down menu to select the Make Corrections option.
3. Make corrections to the invoice
Adjust the invoice date, assigned staff member, service type(s), and CPT modifiers as needed. Invoice amounts cannot be edited. If the client was charged an incorrect amount, you may do the following:
- Client was overcharged: You may issue a partial refund if the client paid using a credit card on file, or you may simply issue a credit that can be applied to future invoices.
- Client was undercharged: You may create a supplemental invoice to recover the shorted amount.
4. Save corrections
Click the Save Invoice button.
