Collect a Copay
Charging clients for a copay is an extremely common practice for businesses that accept insurance. Every provider employs a different strategy, whether it be charging the client at their appointment, sending a bill retroactively, or charging the card on file at some point after the appointment.
With therapzyen, there are a variety of different strategies for charging clients for a copay within their account. It is always best practice to have a client credit card on file, so that you can enforce any payment policies. From there, you can create a package, send the client an invoice, or charge them for a one-off payment in order to collect the copay.
Create a claim
Upon creating a claim for electronic submission, therapyzen creates the invoice associated with the claim. A copay can be processed from the client's ledger using all payment methods available and information from the client's insurance info.
Processing a copay:
- Once a claim has been created, navigate to the client's ledger and locate the open invoice that was submitted as a claim.
Click the invoice actions button and select the option to Pay Invoice.
From the invoice payment screen, select a payment method and click the Make Copayment checkbox.
The copay amount will auto-populate with the copay amount entered into the client's insurance information tab.
Click Save Payment to process the copayment and return to the client's ledger. The invoice will remain open until the insurance payment is received. The copayment will also be marked with a Copay label to signify that it was a copayment received.
