Troubleshooting Push Notifications
Troubleshooting Push Notifications
At Therapyzen, we want to make sure you never miss an important update! If push notifications aren’t working as expected on your device, please follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue:
1. Verify Your Device and Browser Settings
- Check Notification Permissions:
Make sure your device allows notifications from your browser or Therapyzen app.- On Windows or Android: Open your browser settings (e.g., Chrome or Edge) and check the “Notifications” section. Confirm that Therapyzen is allowed to send notifications.
- On Mac or iOS: Go to your device’s system settings, select Notifications, and find your browser (Chrome, Safari, etc.). Ensure that notifications are enabled and that the alert style is set to “Alerts” if you want them to remain on screen until dismissed.
- Verify Internet Connectivity:
Push notifications require a stable internet connection. Ensure that your device is connected to Wi-Fi or mobile data.
2. Understand How Push Notifications Work
Push notifications are delivered in the background by your device’s operating system. Here’s a quick overview:
- Once you allow notifications, Therapyzen sends a subscription (your “address”) to our servers.
- Our servers then send notifications to the push service, which delivers them to your device.
- If your device doesn’t receive a notification, it might be due to temporary network issues or system settings.
Tip: Sometimes notifications appear as banners or alerts. If you miss a banner, check your device’s Notification Center or recent notifications area.
3. Refresh or Reopen the App
- Close your browser entirely or restart the PWA. Some devices may refresh the connection and update settings when the app starts fresh.
- Logging out and then signing back in can help renew your subscription to push notifications.
4. Clear Browser or App Cache
Cached data can occasionally interfere with receiving new notifications.
- Try clearing your browser’s cache or, if using a standalone app, check its settings for a “refresh” option.
Note: Clearing the cache is safe, but you may need to sign in again afterward.
5. Restart Your Device
Sometimes a simple restart can resolve temporary issues with push notifications on your device.
6. When to Contact Support
If you’ve verified all settings and completed the steps above but still aren’t receiving notifications, please contact our support team. Provide the following information to help us diagnose the issue:
- The device type and operating system version.
- The browser (or app) you're using.
- A description of the issue, including how long notifications have been missing.
